SWITCHFOOT BROAM – NEW BANDS – AND LOTS OF GOOD STUFF

Hey all – yes it has been a while since we updated the blog. We have been keeping the FB page up to speed but have not gotten back on here since we have been restructuring the non-profit.

Basically we had to drop the Summer Games this year due to time constraints and budgets, HOWEVER, we will still be at the Broam on June 16 (Auction June 14th). So stoked for that to work with that crew again.

Also – stay on the alert – 3 new colorways of bracelets this year.

1. All Black – The Atom Willard (for his select charity)
2. Grey with black print debossed – The Northern Whale (new band Steff is working with through mfh entertainment).
3. Black with teal and Black with lime green – Special Broam colorway. This year it will be available on the website for those of you who cannot make it out!

Stay tuned for good things to come and we will update you when the bracelets are on line.

HOC teams up for the 80/80 club to raise money for StandUp for Kids and others

If you are a local of Encinitas, you know the Encinitas Ale House. So many amazing beers from all over the world that change daily. We have accepted the Encinitas Ale House’s challenge to drink 80 beers in 80 days. In the HOC spirit of things, of course we had to turn it into a way to give back. We will be asking for all of you to help us by sponsoring per beer we drink. Three of us will be “on the books” … but there is a whole group of others coming out with us and enjoying this experience with us, helping us raise money. HOC, Inc teams up with KILL BRAND and local artists for the Squeaky Wheel Tour

We’ve teamed up with local San Diego artist James Morris and his family to support the Squeaky Wheel Tour = GINA for missing persons FOUNDation. We have been looking for a shirt to do with KILL BRAND for a while now and this was the perfect opprtunity. The tee shirt we have launched has the words “FIND ME” on it and a portion of proceeds from the sale of the shirt will be donated to the GINA FOUNDation. BACK PACKS FOR A CAUSE – Switchfoot/StandUp for Kids

During Switchfoot’s most recent North American Tour, they asked all their fans to bring a new or slightly used back pack to donate to the local chapter of StandUp for Kids. The HOC jumped to the cause. We currently have about 40 backpacks ready to send to the Oceanside, CA chapter. Thanks all who donated. You can always get them to your local chapter. Its an amazing cause.

I was at the last three games leading up to this one moment, and I can say I never have been more proud to be an American … and to play this game.

NICARAGUA MARCH FOR MUSIC – WE MADE IT HAPPEN

Last summer my friend Casey and his wife (good friends of ours who helped with the HOC) hit me up for some help. They joined the Peace Corp in Nicaragua for two years to help teach kids business skills who were not going to college. They found that there were some extremely talented musicians in their group; but no music instruments/drums in good conditions. When Casey told me about this and asked for my help, I immediately put the word out to all my friends in bands. Atom Willard (Angels and Airwaves) and Chad Butler (Switchfoot) were the first to jump on. With Atom getting the help of the Foo Fighters, we were able to collect some great drums and drum stands, etc.

It took a few months to coordinate logistics, etc. But less than a year later, our dream of helping these kids out became a reality. See photos below. These pictures are extremely moving to us. They mean so much and let us know how much of a difference we are making on the world with the help of our friends. Thank you for all the support in us. It keeps us motivated to do what we do. No matter the challenge, we know we can do great things for others. Music rules!!!

HOC teams up with Switchfoot for 7th annual Broam

Lot went on the last 10 days. All which was pretty magical. We teamed up with Switchfoot for their 7th Annual BroAm at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas for StandUp For Kids. It was awesome. Photos to come on our FB page.

We also launched a limited edition colorway of our new bracelets, called The Drewcat, named after Drew Shirley from Switchfoot who picked the colors. only 50 were made. Here is Drew wearing his live on stage during their performance at the beach. These guys are epic. We raised 3x’s this year that we raised last year from beach day sales. We also contributed memorabilia to the Thursday night auction that raised another $1000+. Thanks for all who came out.

THE 5th ANNUAL HOC SUMMER GAMES – 2011

The 5th Annual HOC Summer Games to benefit Make-A-Wish San Diego* will be held June 11th at Magee Park in Carlsbad. More information to come.

Preregistration has started. Teams must consist of 5-6 players.
$200 per team if registered by May 20th
$250 per team if registered after May 20th.

We are sponsoring a fundraiser to help with the cost of medical bills and continuous care on his way to recovery. Everyone who knows Dave knows he has an amazing heart and he is a great friend. We want to celebrate the courage and strength he showed to overcome this horrible disease.

May 7th from 1-4 PM on the back patio.

Drink specials and art / photography for sale among other things we have going on … And of course chilling with a cocktail on a Saturday with a bunch of great people in beautiful coastal North County San Diego – well it doesn’t get any better.

Of course we will give as much publicity as possible to all artists and photographers who donate pieces.
